Perhaps he knew that each square of Anatolian territories, which become meaningful with their rumors and were inspired by the past, had a separate story, but he realized that Asker Balıklar (Soldier Fishes) was only one of them in Ilıpınar village of Atkaracalar district of Çankırı, by means of what he heard from the notables in the village:
According to rumors, almost all of the fish in the pool disappeared during the Battle of Gallipoli. After the war, it was observed that some of the fish were still in the water and there were wounds on their scales. Asker Balıklar (Soldier Fish), which were in the pool in Ilıpınar village for more than 400 years, have kept their number approximately 500. The dead fish were buried, and no animal approached them. Some people who did not believe in these rumors wanted to catch and cook the fishes, but they experienced troubles without eating them.
